This list holds every US-listed stock in a ~2,900-name universe whose latest close sits within 5% of the highest close of the past 52 weeks. It is a plain proximity screen: it says where a stock is trading relative to its own one-year range, not whether that range will extend.
How this screen is computed
For each stock the 52-week high is the highest daily close in the trailing 252 trading sessions, and the distance is (latest close ÷ 52-week high − 1) × 100. A stock exactly at a new high shows 0.0%; a stock 3% below it shows −3.0%. The threshold is −5%: anything further below the high is not on the list.
The ranking is by that distance, closest to the high first, so new highs cluster at the top. Price, daily move and market cap come from the same daily close snapshot; the table refreshes every hour and states the close date it was built from.
How to read it
A crowded list — several hundred names — usually means a broad advance: many stocks are pressing their highs together. A short list in a rising index points to narrow leadership, where a few large names carry the average while most stocks lag their own highs.
Proximity to a high is descriptive, not predictive. Stocks near highs include both long, steady uptrends and short squeezes that reverse within days; the table cannot tell those apart. The interactive screener lets you add conditions — market cap, sector, earnings surprise, analyst changes — to narrow the list to the profile you actually want to study.
