Every US-listed stock in the universe where officers, directors or 10% owners reported at least two open-market purchases of the company's own shares in the last 90 days, and the dollar value of those purchases exceeds the value of their open-market sales over the same window. The figures come straight from the Form 4 statements insiders file with the SEC.
How this screen is computed
The source is EDGAR: every Form 4 filed by an insider of a company in the universe is read daily, and only the non-derivative transaction table counts. Transaction code P (open-market or private purchase) adds to the buy total and code S (open-market sale) to the sell total, each as shares × reported price. Grants and awards (A), option exercises (M), shares withheld for tax (F) and gifts (G) are excluded on purpose — they are compensation mechanics, not a decision to put money in.
Insider net = purchases − sales over the trailing 90 calendar days, recomputed nightly as the window moves. The screen requires at least two purchase transactions so that a single token buy does not qualify a stock, and a positive net figure. The ranking is by net dollars bought, largest first; the buyers column counts distinct insiders, which separates one executive buying repeatedly from several buying independently.
How to read it
Insiders sell for many reasons — diversification, tax, a house — but they buy for one: they expect the shares to be worth more. That is why purchases carry more information than sales, and why this screen looks at open-market buys rather than total holdings. Even so, insiders are early far more often than they are right on timing, and a purchase says nothing about the size of the position relative to the insider's wealth.
Form 4 must be filed within two business days of the trade, so the list lags reality by at most a few days. A cluster of buys by several insiders after a sharp fall is a different situation from a founder topping up a controlling stake; the ticker page shows who bought, when and at what price. The interactive screener can combine this list with valuation, price-move or analyst-change conditions.
